Have you been looking for a quality upholsterer for a business project? Upholstery is becoming a lost art in America. It’s getting hard to find people who can do great work and also handle tight deadlines that businesses need. If you own a business, there is a high probability that your existing chairs can be brought back to life by re-upholstering. Whether it’s the chairs in your waiting room or all the dining room chairs at a country club, re-upholstery is a great option. Reason being, if your business has good furniture, often re-upholstering can be significantly cheaper than buying new and you get a custom look.
Recently we received a call from a furniture dealer with whom we do a fair amount of business. She was working with a Chicago business that had over 60 quality Mid-Century Modern chairs that needed to be reupholstered on a tight deadline. Being a designer herself, she picked amazing fabrics for the two styles of chairs. One was a citrus and the other was royal blue that had a velvet feel to it:
If pieces are in good shape structurally, they can be stripped of their old fabric and work can begin. Usually, new foam is added to give the piece the proper support.
Padding wears down over the years from use, therefore, it’s crucial to add new foam to assure the piece is comfortable again. We offer a few options for the trim of the seat. We can use a standard single/double welts or add decorative nails to replace the welting.
After a couple of weeks of work, the dingy red fabric was gone and the chairs were transformed into a fresh look the customer loved:
