The Vision
Often we get projects where items have been built by others and we need to engineer a way to make a piece fit in the existing space. In this case, the banquette area had already been constructed and there was a tight space left for a table. In collaboration with Ellce Design, the table needed to be constructed in such a way where it had the maximum amount of table top but the smallest base possible to give the proper amount of legroom for people to gather.
The Outcome
Obviously, this poses a problem when you have large top but need a small base in terms of stability. We designed a base small enough that it could support the weight of the table and be anchored to the floor to assure stability. Ellce Design wanted a custom stain color that incorporated a base coat grey and glaze of blue and black. The color came out perfect and we accomplished the engineering that our client needed and a style to match the space.
