Jones Ward was honored to build custom furnishings for Da Bears’ newly renovated and expanded Halas Hall. Truth be told, we got the job because of our expertise with live-edge projects and because we could meet the project budget and delivery date.
Our primary job was to build a multi-purpose table for the Bears’ team nutritionist. She wanted a large table that would double as a beverage bar then convert to a flat surface for nutrition presentations.
The top was made from walnut because of its beauty and durability as well as its interesting live-edge appearance. Three slide-in leaves were built to hide the beverage trough that runs the length of the table. The tabletop was finished with a high-durability, two-part polyurethane for long-lasting beauty and function. Wheels were installed on the powder-coated steel frame to make the 10-foot by 4½-foot table easy to move around the team’s refuel center.
